Tucker Elected to National Board of Directors

The National Board of Directors of WoodmenLife is integral in planning the direction and continued success of our organization. That is why I was so excited about the addition of Dwayne Tucker of Nashville, TN, to the Board, effective Oct. 1, 2016.

I’ve gotten to know Dwayne over time, and he is someone whose talents and perspective will make a difference for WoodmenLife members across the nation. Dwayne brings 30 years of strong Human Resources experience and business unit leadership for other large corporations to the Board.

He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Tennessee State University in Nashville. He has also earned his certification in employment law from the Antioch School of Law in Washington, D.C.; certifications in multiple programs having to do with diversity and inclusion training; and completed the Finance and Accounting for the Non-Financial Manager program from Wharton School of Business, which is affiliated with the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.

He is the Founder & CEO of Dwayne Tucker Consulting, LLC, in which he provided executive coaching and leadership consulting services. He has also served as Chief Human Resource Officer and President, Transaction Services for Alliance Data in Plano, TX, and was responsible for business units with combined revenue of more than $400 million. He has also lent his strategic, advocacy, leadership, and program design and development expertise to companies such as First Data and Northwest Airlines.

Biographical information can do more than attest to a person’s education and experience; it can also give insight into his character. Dwayne has been a volunteer leader for many years on youth and education-based initiatives, including Chairman of the Tennessee State University Foundation Board, developing a new alumni giving model; and as Chairman of LEAD Public Schools, a network of five public charter schools, implementing strategies for improving academic performance. He is also Founder & CEO of Educate Nashville, a non-profit established to create after-school tutorial programs for inner city students; and a former Board member of One Hundred Black men of Middle Tennessee and Nashville Public Radio. In addition, Dwayne volunteers with Junior Achievement, facilitating after-school programs and co-instructing business classes.

Dwayne holds membership in WoodmenLife Chapter 1 in Nashville, and he enjoys golf and international travel. He and his wife, Carmen, have two children: Brandy and Dwayne.

Please join me in welcoming Dwayne Tucker to the National Board of Directors.

As a man who jumps at any chance to travel to a beach, it's unlikely Patrick L. Dees thought he’d end up in the cold Midwest. A proud Texan and an animal lover, his more than 30 years with WoodmenLife span from active member as a youth to Sales Representative to, as of 2017, President & CEO. As the organization’s 13th president, he leads the charge in moving WoodmenLife into the next generation while preserving the values we’ve held close since our founding in 1890. Along with his wife, Michele, he spends spare time with their five children and six grandchildren (so far).
