Striking Out Hunger

President & CEO Larry King and Executive Vice President Operations and Secretary Denise McCauley presented a $19,000 check to Brian Barks from Food Bank for the Heartland in support of WoodmenLife’s National Community Focus of fighting hunger.

They were joined by Mike Yanney, a well-known Omaha philanthropist. As a surprise, Mr. Yanney presented a $1,000 check of his own to round out the donation to the Food Bank to $20,000!

WoodmenLife was a corporate sponsor of the Food Bank’s annual Strike Out Hunger campaign. The $19,000 donation represents WoodmenLife associates’ efforts to raise money to fight hunger during months when donations often lag.

“Hunger doesn’t take a vacation. We are proud of our associates’ efforts to fight hunger this summer,” McCauley said. McCauley is also a member of the Food Bank’s Board of Directors.

With the donation, WoodmenLife won the East Division of the competition, and now has posession of the Food Bank’s traveling trophy.
