WoodmenLife’s Hurricane Relief Efforts and How You Can Help

WoodmenLife's Hurricane Relief Efforts

WoodmenLife is supporting members in their time of need.

Here at WoodmenLife, helping families plan ahead is what we do, but one thing you can’t always prepare adequately for is extreme weather. Even with solid finances and great property insurance, no one can be prepared for having the basics suddenly taken away. I’m talking about shelter, food and water … things most of us take for granted every day.

So many areas of this country have been affected by storms and hurricanes in recent weeks, and we are doing everything we can to help. In my home state of Texas, Hurricane Harvey devastated many communities. To help families in as many of these communities as possible, we are donating $20,000, but we are also encouraging others to donate on RedBasket.org. We also donated $8,000 to Florida following Hurricane Irma, and our chapters step up to donate thousands of dollars in situations like these. I want to acknowledge the many chapters who have already donated money, supplies and their time to these efforts.

How You Can Help

  • Donate online to help with our efforts in southeast Texas.
  • Donate to other disaster relief stories on RedBasket.org.
  • If you know someone who has been affected Hurricane Harvey, Hurricane Irma or other recent storms, encourage them to apply for a story on RedBasket.org. Mother Nature seems to have more in store for us, and we want to help as much as possible.
  • If you know a WoodmenLife member whose primary residence was recently damaged by a natural disaster, please remind them they may be eligible for a $1,000 benefit. They can contact their Representative or Regional Office, or download the necessary form online.

Thank you in advance for your help. Doing the right thing has been a core value for WoodmenLife for its entire 127 years in business, and right now doing the right thing is helping the victims of these tragic weather events.

As a man who jumps at any chance to travel to a beach, it's unlikely Patrick L. Dees thought he’d end up in the cold Midwest. A proud Texan and an animal lover, his more than 30 years with WoodmenLife span from active member as a youth to Sales Representative to, as of 2017, President & CEO. As the organization’s 13th president, he leads the charge in moving WoodmenLife into the next generation while preserving the values we’ve held close since our founding in 1890. Along with his wife, Michele, he spends spare time with their five children and six grandchildren (so far).
