FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE –

OMAHA, Neb. (July 1, 2017) – As a gift to the city of Nashville for hosting its 48th National Convention, WoodmenLife will present a $12,000 check to the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department’s Mounted Patrol Unit at the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center on July 25, 2017.

The donation will be used for the purchase of three horses and will help with efforts to expand the mounted police presence and number of horses in the Unit, as some horses are nearing retirement age. The horses are useful for crowd control, but they also improve public trust and help to build positive relationships between police officers and the general public.

The Horse Mounted Patrol Unit, which currently includes 10 horses, patrols all types of special events including Tennessee Titans games, parades, CMA Fest, and many other major events in downtown Nashville.

More than 600 WoodmenLife delegates and guests from throughout the country will convene at the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center July 23-26 for the organization’s 48th National Convention. The delegates represent more than 700,000 WoodmenLife customers nationwide, including approximately 47,200 from the state of Tennessee.

During the convention, delegates will attend meetings on both business and fraternal topics, and share best practices from successful community service endeavors. The convention will conclude Wednesday morning, July 26, with the election and installation of officers.
