Leadership Thoughts

$38 Billion and Counting

Today, as I begin my new role as President & CEO of WoodmenLife, I want to discuss our principal purpose as an organization … taking care of families. We recently reached $38 billion of life insurance in force, and that number represents something much greater. Though things have changed in our 126-year history (you can read more about our goals going forward in the latest issue of WoodmenLife Magazine), we have always stayed true to our roots of keeping our promises.

Life insurance is often one of those things that people know they need, but think can wait. According to LIMRA and the Life Foundation, 33 percent of young families say they don’t have enough life insurance. Unexpected death is not only tragic and emotional, it can quickly impact a family financially. If for example, you were laid off, your income would immediately stop. For most families, this means your lifestyle would have to change within a matter of weeks. In a similar way, death immediately ends an income stream. Covering your family ensures you can focus on what really matters, instead of worrying about how you will pay your mortgage and bills.

With our new Family Term Insurance, you can cover your entire family with one certificate for less than you’d think. And the rate will not change for 20 years. What really sets WoodmenLife apart is our people. Our Representatives are compassionate and professional. Taking an hour or so of your time and as little as you spend on a meal out per month, you can check life insurance off your list. Having that protection in place is not something you’ll ever regret.

I also invite you to take a look at the customer benefits you get at no extra cost just for being a WoodmenLife customer. We recently updated these benefits to reflect what families need today, and we’re especially excited about the new WoodmenLife Focus Forward Scholarship program.

You’ll quickly learn that everything we do at WoodmenLife is a team effort. The new Family Term offerings, the updated customer benefits,  the good we do in communities … none of it would be possible without our more than 1,100 Sales Representatives, our incredible executive team and National Board of Directors, more than 550 dedicated Home Office associates, and nearly 700,000 customers who donate their time and leadership. I have no doubt that the best is yet to come for WoodmenLife; I am proud to be a part of it and humbled to be chosen to lead the charge.

wish they had taken care of us. after paying on life insurance for 30 years, a representative told us they we would have to pay in a lot of money (around $500) in order to keep it. not what we were promised when we bought it. the same thing happened to a close friend.
