One Week Until Banding

One week from today we’ll know the falcons’ genders and WoodmenLife will launch the naming contest!

Every year, the winner of the naming contest gets to come to the following year’s banding. Last year’s winner, Joey Sarinana, lives in Virginia and he’s unable to make it to Omaha. But, his kids helped choose the winning names to submit last year, so they will be involved again! They, along with WoodmenLife executives, will help narrow down the names before we have everyone vote.

Naming Contest Details

The naming contest will start at noon on May 19, the day of the banding. We’ll start accepting name submissions on our Facebook page. You’ll have until noon on Friday, May 26 to submit your names.

We’ll narrow down the names (so no Boaty McBoatface here, sorry!) and the voting will start at noon on June 1 and continue through noon on June 8. We’ll announce the winning names on Friday, June 9! And the winner will get to come to the banding next year.

Keep visiting WoodmenLife’s falcon cam to watch those falcon babies grow – and start thinking about names!
